Picking Flowers for Mama // A Sentimental Valentine’s Day #OneBigHappy #OOTD

This is a sponsored post by Gymboree. I only accept reviews I would genuinely recommend. For more information, check out my disclosure.

As Gentry is getting older, I am more and more mindful of how he treats his Mama. I know he is going to be married one day in the VERY far future but one thing I have learned in my short time of Motherhood, is that its never too early to start teaching him lessons. One of those lessons has been opening doors for his Mama; another lesson has been not to hit his Mama 🙂 This Valentine’s Day I wanted to start a tradition of “picking flowers for his Mama” another lesson on how to show love. Granted I’m not a huge flower girl to begin with and my thumb is FAR from green but I have just recently started a new appreciation for flowers. Perhaps because they grow, they live and eventually die and I’m getting older and those kinds of things just matter now.

The Back Story to Baby’s Breath Flowers

When I found out I was pregnant, I IMMEDIATELY began being a Pinterest Mom. Back then, there wasn’t secret boards so I would have to email myself my secret pins of what I wanted his nursery to be like or baby name inspiration or even gender reveal ideas. Here’s a video of when we found out we were having a BOY at our Gender Reveal Party:

During the planning phase of this party, I wanted to have some decor including small table arrangements. And by small I mean really really small. I reached out to a flower shop (Roadrunner Florist in Phoenix, AZ) who sold me a BUNCH of baby’s breath. I snipped all of those little flowers and placed them into little baby food jars. Sadly, I didn’t get a good shot of them but here’s a pretty picture of baby’s breath so you get the idea. 🙂

Bringing things full circle

Now fast forward to this past week… I was thinking of this special time with Gentry and this floral shop popped up in my mind. I had not spoken to the owners since my purchase of babies breath but I thought how sentimental would that be if Gentry’s first flowers he picks out are from THAT shop? So I reached out to the ladies (who are the SWEETEST things EVER) and spoke to Tina. Without hesitation she said to bring Gentry over!

For this occasion, I fit Gentry in the most adorable little Valentine’s Day #OOTD ever from Gymboree.

Gymboree is having a campaign that this post is a part of called #OneBigHappy moments! I thought it was so perfect not only for me personally (#HelloSentimentalness) but for Gentry and I to share a new little tradition we started this year. Check out their commercial:

After I got Gent all lookin’ cute in his Gymboree outfit, we made the 45 minute commute over to Roadrunner florist shop. Tina was ecstatic to meet Gentry, to say the least and I was surprised she even remembered me! “I feel like I’ve known you since before you were born” she told Gentry. #MELTMYHEART

Gentry was also quite embarrassed when I whipped out my camera in the shop. This face says it ALL. HA!

So off Gentry went, scouring the florist shop hunting for whatever he could get his little paws on. Tina was the most patient person EVER with Gentry, I felt like we were right at home. She even let us go “behind the scenes” into the refrigerator where the fancy flowers are kept. Gentry got a kick outta that.

Tina was kind enough to bring out a pretty little Valentine’s Day vase with a single rose. Sadly, the poor little vase didn’t make it past 5 seconds thanks to the three year old.

I’m already looking forward to next year when this little tradition will hopefully continue. To see how much he has changed and how much his understanding of what he is actually learning through this little lesson.

Handsome fella’, Happy Valentine’s Day from your first love.

xoxo, MAMA
