Organizing with a [Busy] Toddler + Giveaway from Delta Children!
Springtime is knocking at my door. Which means Spring cleaning is also knocking at my door. Well… It’s actually been knocking at my door since August of 2013, if I am being transparent with you all.
Since my very rough pregnancy, very rough birth and inevitable rough first year with my heart baby, I don’t feel like I have had the chance to really tackle organization and cleanliness of my home as much as I would like as my attention has been pulled into so many other areas.
I would pray that fairies would make appearances at night when I would be sleeping and stuff would magically organize themselves. I’m sure you have been there with me. It doesn’t help out my plea that we have no local family here to just help out once in a while either which hampered my efforts even just a little more as (if that was possible.)
The Sentimental Mama receives products in exchange for review. The following are my opinions only.
There was TWO major purchases in the past 2+ years that helped out my daily cleaning routine (if I can even use the word routine in this manner.) First, was the Bissell Steam Mop. I felt like a million dollars when I could just use steam and some lavender oil to clean my floors. With a crawling-everything-in-his-mouth baby everywhere it was a reassurance that he wasn’t licking chemicals off the floor but also that it was so easy to use. The other item was the Shark Handheld Vacuum which helped out my sweeping immensely. These two products kick started my new mom cleaning routine and they are both still incorporated in how I function currently.
Now that Gentry is older, he still is tied to my legs. Literally. The kid doesn’t like it when I am not within 2 feet of him while at home. (Outside of the home is something else…) This makes cleaning AND organizing a pain and difficult at times. I recently changed the whole look of Gentry’s room and converted it from a nursery to a toddler room. Within that process, I was able to organize and clean up but time has passed and I needed some extra help in the organizational department for his room. Enter a durable and attractive storage set from Delta Children.
This set has 48 pieces total which included:
- 30 Slim-design, flocked-velvet hangers
- 12 Closet dividers
- 3 Small storage bins
- 2 Large storage bins
- Six- shelf organizer
I unloaded this baby and guess who was at my feet wondering what present he received in the mail? You got that right, little mister #GentryHudson. So I did what every Mama would do and I tried to turn this whole organizing his room thing into a game.
I loved that out of the box, these storage bins didn’t have a funky odor. They are also made sturdier than the common IKEA ones that I am used to using. The velvet hangers were also the perfect size for Gent’s shirts. I never used velvet hangers before this – even on my own clothes. I really liked how it keeps the clothes on the hanger especially when its 5am and you are sliding clothes quickly trying to find an outfit in the morning. 🙂
As I was unfolding and getting the bins set up, I let Gentry “play” with the bins and hanger dividers. We practiced counting, filling and pouring and even hide and seek – sort of. 🙂
Getting Gentry’s room up to par with organzing his clothes and toys really motivated me. I started reading and searching and pinning for tips and tricks. Here are a couple articles and a book that caught my eye:

Clutterfree with Kids by Joshua Becker
So as I am going through this new transition from beinging a clutter mess with a newborn into this new clutter mess with a toddler, I have a new set of eyes and a few extra nuggets of information I can hang onto through this process. I am still learning, still researching and I am no where near perfect. But I know I love a clean clutterfree house I just have to navigate my way and get a little smart with how to go about doing it as a Mama. Do you have any tips or tricks for me? Drop me a note in the comments section below!
