Top 5 Photography Apps

I get asked a lot about which apps I use on social media for my images. So I thought it would be nice for me to write a little blurb about each of these apps, why I use them, what for, and some examples. I am by no means a professional photographer. I am, however, a Mamaratzi. 🙂 Also, I have an iPhone. I am not sure if these apps are available for Android but it doesn’t hurt to try it out!

Side note… as a reminder I do not get paid for posts like these. These are my honest opinions and recommendations.

I will be using this image to give examples of these apps:

1. {Instasize} Cost: FREE: This app I use in its most basic form. I just use to size the image for Instagram posting. I also use this to create a collage. I like this app because it leaves the edges of the image straight, its super easy to use, and its free. You can also create boarders and do other things with this app but I primarily use this for everything but those things. ALSO: if I am doing a collage and I don’t like the format of the collage templates this app has, I use InstaFrame. This app does make the edges rounded which I don’t like, hence, it is not on my top 5 😉

2. {Pic-tap-go} Cost $1.99: This app has been with me for quite a while. Definitely worth the $2 it costs. The reason I love this app is because I can create my own “recipes”. For those of you that are familiar with Photoshop, its like creating a basic editing action. When editing, you can not only control which filter(s) you like, but you can layer them and then change the opacity of the layer which REALLY makes it unique to your style. THEN save it, name it, and use it again and again. Here is the before and after just using Pic-Tap-Go using a commonly used recipe I created AND using an Instasize collage.

3. {AfterlightCost: $.99: Afterlight has editing filters, light flares, and instant film filters. I primarily use this app for sunflares. I love how you can change the opacity of the flare. I have yet to really love the filters more than PicTapGo but they are there.

4. {OverCost: $1.99 I LOVE over. There is an option to purchase more fonts (which I have done) for $.99 each. If you purchase this one and find that you use it a couple of times a week, I would HIGHLY suggest you purchase more fonts. They also have some fonts that are suddenly free and you can download. Need some inspiration on how to use their fonts? Follow their #madewithOver hashtag and you will be inspired! The creators of Over are also the same creators of the OBaby app… which is next in line…

5. {OBaby} Cost: $4.99: The best for last…  By far the most expensive app on my list BUT it is my absolute FAVORITE. This app is perfect when you JUST find out you are pregnant OR you are adopting. You can still purchase (like I did) later in the game but there are so many cool designs for those early phases. I HIGHLY recommend you purchase the extended version to unlock all packs. To do this its $9.99 which makes this app $15. Sticker shock? Don’t let it. If you are seriously thinking about using your pictures to document everything relating to your little, it is worth it. I can’t stress this enough! If you go through my images on Instagram you will see how I use this app… A LOT. One of the best things about this, is the community. There is an area of the app that if you are looking for a design that isn’t in the app, you post it in the suggestion area of the app and if there is enough interest in your idea, they will create the design! I have gotten response from this that the design I wanted was actually already in the app but was hidden under a different area of the app that I never opened before. Which leads me to the next tip, open up every field. Adoption? But I’m not adopting…? ITS OKAY open up that field and you will still find things that might be relevant to what you’re needing like “Worth the wait.” Also, they have doodles… use them! Last tip, use their hashtag. The community on Instagram for OBaby is so nice. I love clicking on that hashtag and finding other like-minded Mamas.
